Real GDP of Ukraine increased by 5.5% in September 2008

According to data of State Statistics Committee of Ukraine, real GDP of Ukraine increased by 5.5% in September 2008 comparing with 10.9% growth in August.

For period of January-September, GDP increased by 6.9%  and by 7.1% in January-August 2008. Decrease of GDP growth was caused by decline of growth rate in many industries of the economy. Thus, mining and quarrying increased by 4.7% (comparing with 5.4% for 8 M period) and manufacturing by 5.9% (7.3% for 8 M period).

Some industries suffered even decrease for period of January-September. For example, construction declined by 10.3% for 9M comparing with 5.3% decrease for January-August 2008.
